A phoenix is a mythical bird with a colorful plumage as well as a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green in accordance with some legends[weasel words]). The Phoenix's ability being reborn looking at the own ashes implies that it is immortal, though in certain stories the brand new Phoenix is merely the offspring from the older one. In very few stories they're in a posture to change into people.
